Universal Matte Box

A Universal Matte Box is an essential camera accessory designed to block unwanted stray light and to mount neutral density (ND), polarizing, or creative filters. Typically, it includes a rigid sunshade with adjustable “French flags” and one to three filter stages that support both square and circular filters. Matte boxes can be attached via 15 mm or 19 mm rod support systems, or clamped directly onto lens barrels for lightweight setups. Swing-away options allow fast lens changes without removing the matte box, making them ideal for professional film, commercial, and run-and-gun environments
